Treasure Island Real Estate on Lake McQueeney
Treasure Island TX Homes For Sale
In the mid 1950’s Stewart Morris Sr. of Stewart Title Company acquired two pieces of land in the center of Lake McQueeney. His vision for a neighborhood accessible only by bridge was inspired by the adventure novel, Treasure Island. Mr. Morris looked to the novel when naming many of the streets such as Admiral Benbow, Spyglass and Trelawney. The two present day canals were originally dredged to add additional home sites with access to the water. Per Mr. Morris and his Daughter, the lots originally sold for between $3,000 and $10,000. He reserved two of the original lots, currently know as 611 Admiral Benbow for himself where their family vacation home would be built in 1957. The Morris family home is held in a family trust which has and will continue to be enjoyed by family and friends for many generations to come. Nearly 70 years later and thanks to Stewart Morris Sr’s vision, Treasure Island is one of the most desirable locations on Lake McQueeney to live.
